Volunteers provide our heritage projects with fantastic support. Through their passion and enthusiasm, they help to enhance the experience for our visitors and provide support behind the scenes.
We’d love you to hear from you if you are interested in joining one of our volunteer teams. Or, if you are not ready to proceed now, email us to register your interest.
What to Expect
Our application form will ask you some questions about yourself, and then about any skills, qualities or experience you have that are relevant to the roles. Do think carefully about these answers and try to give examples where relevant - ideally, we need more than one-line responses.
Your application form will be seen by our Heritage Volunteer Programme Manager and shared with the appropriate person at the individual heritage site.
We also ask for information that will help us monitor the diversity of our applicants. This is anonymous and will not be seen by anyone else at the heritage sites.

Once we've reviewed your application, we'll be in touch. We might invite you to an informal interview/chat so we can get to know you and you can get to know us and the role a little better.

If you're successful at the informal interview/chat, we will take up references with your provided named referees.
The more information you give us, the more we can get a picture of whether you are right for a particular role.
Your Information
Personal information will be stored, processed, used, and disclosed by us in the ways outlined below:

-
To enable you to apply for our volunteer roles.
-
To enable us to decide whether you'll be a good candidate for the role.
-
To be referred to when looking at the level of training and support you might need, or where the information is relevant to our overall management of you.
Non UK Citizens
Applicants who aren’t UK citizens: please note that you are only allowed to volunteer if your immigration status permits it. Many will, but please do check that you're entitled to volunteer, to avoid breaching the terms of your status.
You can find further information about different visa rules on GOV.UK. Irish citizens, EU/EEA citizens with settled or pre-settled status, and refugees and asylum seekers are fully entitled to volunteer.
